Submitted by Ms. Allana! How Dalia Put a Big Yellow Comforter Inside a Tiny Blue Box by Linda Heller. There is a Jewish tradition of charity and caring called tzedakah, and this is the story of how one little girl teaches her brother and friends the value of it. When Dalia learns from her teacher about making tzedakah boxes she rushes home to make one, and when her inquisitive little brother asks what’s inside, she replies “A big yellow comforter” and explains the tradition to him. So begins the wonderful project that Dalia will share with Yossi, her friends, and the whole community. To one community member, Mrs. Ross, it becomes a very special gift when the children get together to surprise her. This story warms the heart, and teaches us about the power of giving and sharing. The illustrations by Stacey Dressen McQueen enhance the story with vibrant and colorful cheer. See this book listed in our catalog
