Submitted by Ms. Jill!Carlo and the Really Nice Librarian by Jessica Spanyol. It’s Carlo the young giraffe’s first visit to the new library! He is so excited about the posters, the computers, the fun chairs on wheels, and all of the wonderful books! But when Carlo meets Mrs. Chinca, the librarian, she seems a little scary. Mrs. Chinca is an alligator with lots of sharp teeth! But Carlo soon learns that Mrs. Chinca knows a LOT about books – she shows him all the best ones in the library, and even reads some books with him. Carlo gets to help Mrs. Chinca put books away (his nice long giraffe neck lets him reach the high shelves) and she makes him his very own library card, so that he can check out books and take them home. Mrs. Chinca isn’t scary after all – she’s a Really Nice Librarian. This is a great, simple story for any young one who loves the library, or who feels shy around new people.
