There are many picture books about colors. However, Green by Laura Vaccaro Seeger surpasses any that I have previously read. Unlike most picture books featuring a color theme, Green is not about learning different colors. Instead, Seeger’s beautiful book is a study of just how varied a single color can be. A 2013 Caldecott Honor winner, this book takes a single color and gives it depth, and makes the color green worth discovering. Each page features the color green in a different shade and different situation. Forest Green features quiet, lush, dark green trees, while Glow Green’s fireflies perfectly illustrate a summer evening. Each page also features ingenious cut-outs that create beautiful surprises on each page. With simple text that is a perfect complement to the amazing illustrations, you will want to pour over this book over and over again. Check out Green by Laura Vaccaro to find out just how much you love this color. See this book listed in our catalog
