This Is Not My Hat by Jon Klassen. “A fish has stolen a hat, and he’ll probably get away with it. Probably…” The hat fits little fish just right, but it’s not his. It’s wrong that he stole it, he already knows this, but the big fish won’t notice. Even if the big fish DOES notice, he won’t know who took it. Even if he figures out who took it, he won’t know where little fish went, right? Little fish thinks he has found the perfect hiding place, and he may well have… The pictures help tell the story of how the big fish really feels, and how he reacts to the stolen hat. This is a great read aloud book for kids, and if you can bring their attention to the subtle changes in the big fish’s expression, you can really play with the emotion in the story.
