We all worry about making mistakes. Sometimes we just need a reminder that a mistake can lead to something interesting and amazing. Beautiful Oops by Barney Saltzberg is a fantastic and fun way to remind kids (and all people) that mistakes are just an opportunity to try something new. Throughout the book, Saltzberg’s innovative use of paper art and illustrations show how a ripped piece of paper can become an alligator, or how smudge of paint can be turned into a fabulous work of art. Very simple text will make this a quick read, but kids and adults alike will want to take time examining each illustration to see just how Saltzberg made his creations. Kids will love lifting flaps and folding corners to figure out what fantastic creations come out of supposed mistakes. When you are done reading the book, make a project together and see if you can make a creation out of drips, smudges and tears. See this book listed in our catalog
