Secret Seahorse by Stella Blacktone, illustrated by Clare Beaton. Through rhyming text and felt images, readers will be sent on an under water journey of discovery of what lies beneath the surface. Each page offers a new under water scene filled with creatures and color. Readers can count fish, search for the seahorse, or flip to the back to learn about the creatures being introduced. Children can be entertained for hours by this book, as it offers many extended ways of reading. Children can independently search for under water creatures, or sit with a caregiver who can read the book to them. This would be a perfect “trip” or “on the road” book for preschoolers and, as mentioned earlier, it offers information that details coral reefs and the creatures that live in them. These details may be entertaining to an older brother or sister and could offer a “read together” opportunity for younger and older siblings. See this book listed in our catalog
