Is it time for an introduction into the world of art? Rudy and Claude Splash into Art by Adam McHeffey, is a colorful, fun, and very informative book to begin with. Rudy the mouse has met up with his friend, Claude, who is busily “making art.” Rudy wants to try his hand at art as well. Claude teaches Rudy (and us) about self-portraits, landscapes, still life, and found art. One by one, Rudy tries, but isn’t very successful, at each art form. His self-portrait looks nothing like himself. His still life is a bit better, but not much. His landscape turns into a frightening escape from an angry goose! Just when Rudy loses his patience and makes quite a mess with the paint, he learns that he has finally become a “TRUE artist!” Not only is this a great book for learning different forms of art, it is also a fun book to follow along with while trying your hand at a self-portrait or a landscape of your own.
