In I Don’t Want to Be Big by Dev Petty we catch up with Frog from I Don’t Want to Be a Frog. This time Frog doesn’t want to eat his dinner and grow big. Being big means you have to give up all the fun things in life, like being small enough to be carried from place to place, and being really good at hiding during Hide-n-Seek. He has plenty of big friends who can reach things in high places for him. And who wants to be big enough to see a bunch of bug-eyed tree frogs anyway? With his father’s, and his big friend Pig’s, help Frog decides that growing up won’t be too bad after all. You can be grown up and still act little, sometimes. Taking a bath, on the other hand, may become the subject if a third book is in the works. This is a great book for lap reading or story time fun. The illustrations, by Mike Boldt, are vibrant and full of humor. See this book listed in our catalog
