Duck, Duck, Dinosaur, and the Noise at Night

October 18, 2017 by Sara Leave a Comment

Submitted by Ms. Sue!

Duck, Duck Dinosaur and the Noise at Night by Kallie George and illustrated by Oriol Vidal. Feather, Flap, and Spike are feeling very big and very brave. Mama Duck says they are getting too big to sleep with her and are ready to sleep in their own nest. Feather and Flap, who are both ducks, are getting big! Spike, who everyone thinks is a duck (but is a baby dinosaur), is getting bigger! It’s exciting and scary to sleep in their own nest. “We can do it!” they say. Until they fall asleep and awake to a very loud GRRORE! What was it? “Hide!” says Spike. So they all hide. At last they fall asleep again. GRRORE!! “Run away!” So they run to the pond. Finally they settle back to sleep. GRORRE! “Make noise and scare it away!” So they make a lot of noise. But Spike is so exhausted that he falls right over in a deep sleep. That’s when they hear it one more time. GRRORE! It was Spike! The GRRORE was a snore! Flap and Feather laugh just before they all sleep in their own nest all night. The Bath Monster

November 15, 2016 by Sara Leave a Comment

Submitted by Ms. Tammy!

The Bath Monster by Colin Boyd. Jackson loved all things that made him dirty and messy: playing in mud, rolling down hills, and climbing trees. Every night, his mother would say, “Look at you! Go and have a bath now or the Bath Monster will come and get you.” Boys and girls everywhere are told about the Bath Monster’s second favorite food, dirty bath water. He waits at bottom of the drain with his special red and white straw to slurp up the dirty water. One night Jackson refuses to take a bath declaring he no longer believes in the bath monster. Everyone knows what the bath monster’s second favorite food is but that night Jackson finds out what his favorite food is! See this book listed in our catalog

Bear Is Not Tired

June 15, 2016 by Sara Leave a Comment

Submitted by Ms. Brenda!

Bear Is Not Tired by Ciara Gavin. Bear and the ducks live happily together. Because they are such a happy family, Bear often forget that he isn’t actually a duck. When winter weather starts chilling the air, Bear knows that soon it will be time for him to go to sleep, but he doesn’t want to go to sleep. He doesn’t want to miss out on all the fun the ducks will be having without him, so he decides to stay awake! His plan doesn’t work too well. Even though the ducks try to help him stay awake, Bear often falls asleep at very inconvenient times. Not until Mama Duck assures him that he won’t miss a thing, does Bear decide to give in and go to sleep. The ducks go about their daily business, including Bear whenever they can. One spring morning, Bear wake up! True to her word, Mama Duck has made a photo album to share with Bear when he woke up. Bear hadn’t missed a thing. His family made sure to include him, and he had the pictures to prove it! With illustrations that are soft, and full of expression, this is a perfect book for snuggling up with before taking a nice, long nap. See this book listed in our catalog

Shhh! This Book is Sleeping

February 24, 2016 by Sara Leave a Comment

Submitted by Ms. Tess!

Shhh this Book is Sleeping by Cedric Ramadier and Vincent Bourgeau is the perfect book for bedtime! It goes through the typical bedtime routine many children fight, but for a book. The book is getting sleepy! Ask if it brushed it’s teeth and did it go “pee-pee.” Then read it a little story. Is the book warm enough? Does it need another blanket? Now give the book a hug and a kiss and turn the light out. Your child should be ready for bed in no time after this relaxing story! See this book listed in our catalog

Night Animals

October 8, 2015 by Sara Leave a Comment

Submitted by Ms. Brenda!

Night Animals by Gianna Marino takes us deep into the night as frightened animals quietly hide from scary night animals. Unfortunately, Skunk loses control of himself, Possum plays dead, and Wolf and Bear cower together before Bat lets them in on a little secret. They ARE night animals! Ohhhhhh! Their relief is short-lived when they find themselves in the spotlight of a camper’s flashlight, which has everyone running for cover! With bold illustrations, this delightful book helps us understand that we may not be the only ones frightened by things that go bump in the night. See this book listed in our catalog
