Grandma is not like other grandmas. She doesn’t bake cookies, she wears Grandpa’s old flannel shirt, and she wears oversized boots for muddy walks in the woods. When Grandma grabs her walking stick, the “North Woods Girl” runs to catch up with her. North Woods Girl by Aimee Bissonette, is about a little girl who goes on forest adventures with her grandma. In the spring, they trudge through the mud and use binoculars to spot wildlife. In summer, they grow vegetables and can them to share with friends. In winter, the cold doesn’t stop them from taking long walks through the woods. Grandma says she isn’t a good looking woman, but to her granddaughter, she’s perfect the way she is.
