The Underpants Zoo by Brian Sendelbach is a story about a zoo where animals wear underpants just like us. The animals all wear silly underpants to match their personality. Of course, Lion is king of the beasts, so his underwear should be royal purple with crowns. Even though zebras have stripes, they prefer underpants with stars. Leopard, of course, prefers spots, and Hippo is such a romantic she prefers hearts. Elephant needs size extra-jumbo gigantic, and Kangaroo’s boxers have basketballs on them, because they need plenty of bounce. Octopus can wear four pairs of underpants at a time, and the cute little penguins chill their underpants in the freezer. The animals at the zoo seem to love showing off their undies, until they discover they have gotten ants in their pants, so the zoo has to close for awhile, for underpants de-antsing. The story is cute and funny, and the illustrations are adorable. See this book listed in our catalog

Dinosaurs Love Underpants
Submitted by Ms. Amanda!
Have you ever wondered what happened to all the dinosaurs? Dinosaurs Love Underpants by Claire Freeman and Ben Cort solves the mystery… the Mighty Underpants War! Long ago, cavemen felt embarrassed about being nude, so they made underpants. When the T. Rex saw the underpants, he wanted some right away. He tried to steal the caveman’s underpants, but they didn’t quite fit. The Triceratops, Styracosauras, Stegosaurus, and the Diplodocus all wanted underpants too, so they stole the cavemen’s underpants, and tried to make some of their own. But no matter what they did, there just wasn’t enough underpants for all the dinos to enjoy. The dinos were undies crazy, and the cavemen didn’t know what to do. Until one night, the dinos fought, and tugged, and tore the underpants to bits, and in all the crazy fighting all the dinos were wiped out! Can you believe that underpants saved mankind? This book makes me giggle every time I read it. Its adorable rhymes, colorful illustrations, and absurd explanation of how dinosaurs became extinct is a great read that tickles your funny bone no matter how old you are! Not All Princesses Dress In Pink
Submitted by Ms. Catherine!
When I was growing up, I was sure that there was nothing more fun than making mud soup, or rolling down a grass hill. Yet at the same time, I was definitely a very girly girl. In Not All Princesses Dress In Pink, by Jane Yolen and Heidi E. Y. Stemple, illustrated by Anne-Sophie Languetin, we meet a multitude of princesses who have their own way of being themselves. These princesses do not spend all of their time dressed in ball gowns and drinking tea with their little finger in the air. Instead they play baseball, take care of animals, have fun with friends, and defeat dragons (okay, maybe not real ones) all while wearing their best sparkly crowns. Yolen and Stemple have written a great book to help remind young girls that being true to yourself is what’s really important. Languetin’s bright and lovely illustrations are delightful; her princesses are having so much fun being themselves. This is a great book for any girl, whether she has a crown on her head, cleats on her feet, or both! See this book listed in our catalog
Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes
Submitted by Ms. Carol!
Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes by Eric Litwin is a great story. It’s about a cat who absolutely loves his white tennis shoes. He goes around, happy as can be, singing his song: “I love my white shoes, I love my white shoes, I love my white shoes, I love my white shoes.” But, oh no! Pete steps in a pile of strawberries! Pete doesn’t let that get him down. He goes right along singing his song: “I love my red shoes, I love my red shoes…” This goes on and on. Pete steps in many things, and his shoes turn many colors, but Pete never lets it get him down. The moral of the story is “no matter what you step in, keep walking along and singing your song because it’s all good.” See this book listed in our catalog or download the free song and story it comes with
