Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur

April 23, 2018 by Tess Leave a Comment

Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur Vol. 1: BFF by Amy Reeder, Brandon Montclare, and Natacha Bustos
Format: Graphic Novel
Who it’s for: Kids, Teens, Adults, Everyone

Lunella Lafayette’s got problems. She’s the smartest fourth grader at PS 20, and I don’t mean she’s just smarter than all her fellow students. She’s smarter than all the teachers too! She’d love to go to another school where she’s challenged more. But bigger than that: Lunella was born with the Inhuman gene, and when she’s exposed to the Terrigen Mist her super abilities will present themselves, and Lunella doesn’t want to change! She wants to stay herself! She discovers a device she thinks will protect her from the Terrigen Mist, but upon activation it creates a portal in time and space through which a red Tyrannosaurus Rex and a gang of Neanderthals called the Killer Folk travel! Now the Killer Folk are wreaking havoc in her neighborhood and the T Rex is following Lunella around like puppy! Really, what’s a girl to do?

This is fun graphic novel, and a true all-ages story that everyone can enjoy. Lunella is a lovable hero, and her adventures are just beginning in this book! Check out Vol. 2: Cosmic Cooties, where Lunella meets a new boy at school (and maybe an arch enemy), Vol. 3: The Smartest There Is where Lunella tests her intellect against the rest of the Marvel Universe, and Vol. 4 Girl-Moon where Lunella the Moon Girl meets a girl who’s an actual moon! Mamasaurus

April 11, 2018 by Sara Leave a Comment

Submitted by Ms. Shannon!

Mamasaurus by Stephan Lomp. One moment Babysaurus was eating leaves with his Mamasaurus and having a lovely day. The next thing he knew, he had slipped all the way down her very long tail and he was completely lost! Babysaurus embarks on a journey to search for Mamasaurus and he runs into many friends along the way. Each dinosaur asks a question to help Babysaurus find his Mama. Little readers are able to join in on the investigation by hearing each dinosaur describe their mother and comparing them to Mamasaurus. The illustrations include dark backgrounds that allow the vibrant characters to pop on each page. This charming book offers a great opportunity for children to think critically and recognize colors. See this book listed in our catalog.

Duck, Duck, Dinosaur, and the Noise at Night

October 18, 2017 by Sara Leave a Comment

Submitted by Ms. Sue!

Duck, Duck Dinosaur and the Noise at Night by Kallie George and illustrated by Oriol Vidal. Feather, Flap, and Spike are feeling very big and very brave. Mama Duck says they are getting too big to sleep with her and are ready to sleep in their own nest. Feather and Flap, who are both ducks, are getting big! Spike, who everyone thinks is a duck (but is a baby dinosaur), is getting bigger! It’s exciting and scary to sleep in their own nest. “We can do it!” they say. Until they fall asleep and awake to a very loud GRRORE! What was it? “Hide!” says Spike. So they all hide. At last they fall asleep again. GRRORE!! “Run away!” So they run to the pond. Finally they settle back to sleep. GRORRE! “Make noise and scare it away!” So they make a lot of noise. But Spike is so exhausted that he falls right over in a deep sleep. That’s when they hear it one more time. GRRORE! It was Spike! The GRRORE was a snore! Flap and Feather laugh just before they all sleep in their own nest all night. There are loads of new crustacean friends, water fun, sun bathing, and even more dinosaur friends to find, that happens all in one day at the beach! Dinosaurs have tons of fun if salty water and sandy toes are involved. Follow along as Rex makes huge waves, gets a little sun burnt, and relaxes at the beach. Rex and Cordelia are always busy, and this is just another stop on their adventure train! See this book listed in our catalog

Dinosaur vs. the Library

December 20, 2011 by Sara Leave a Comment

Submitted by Ms. Catherine!
When last we met our friend the Dinosaur, he was out defeating bowls of spaghetti, giant slides, and talking grown-ups. And, while bedtime did indeed defeat the Dinosaur in the end, we all knew he would be back to “Roar!” another day. In Bob Shea’s Dinosaur Vs. The Library, our friend the Dinosaur meets many new friends, and teaches them how to “Roar!” Soon cows, baby chicks, and even shy turtles and sad owls are roaring away with the awesome Dinosaur! But what will happen when the Dinosaur goes to the library? Will he be able to use his inside roar? When it’s story time, will he be able to keep his roars to himself altogether? Bob Shea’s illustrations are funny and adorable. Anyone who has a little dinosaur at home will recognize just how hard it can be to use inside roars sometimes. However, as the Dinosaur learns, when you stay quiet to hear a book at story time at the library, everybody wins. See this book listed in our catalog
