Yip! Snap! Yap! by Charles Fuge. Children will love joining in on the fun as they explore different dogs, and the sounds they each make as they do doggie stuff. The double page spreads, with bright colors and wonderful illustrations, are sure to capture the attention of young readers. The children are invited to make the sounds along with each dog, from the hungry dog, (Chomp! Munch! Chew!) to the itchy dog, (Scritch! Scratch! Scruff) to the yappy dog (Yip! Snap! Yap!). In the end, you’ll be singing along with the puppy dogs… Aroo! Aroo! Aroo! See this book listed in our catalog

The Twelve Prayers of Christmas and The First Christmas
The First Christmas illustrated by Sophy Williams (a changing-picture book) is a wonderful version of the Christmas story. It’s simply told, but features changing picture panels on every other page to make it even more interesting and special. The images of all the key characters are charming, but when you slide the last panel and see Mary and Joseph with the baby Jesus, it really shines. See this book listed in our catalog

The Wide-Mouthed Frog
Submitted by Ms. Catherine!
I love pop-up books, and I love frogs. So, when I found The Wide-Mouthed Frog, I was very excited! This book, written by Keith Faulkner and illustrated by Jonathan Lambert, is now one of my favorites. The friendly frog, with is pop-up wide mouth, goes from animal to animal asking what each one eats. The bird eats worms, and the mouse eats berries. But the alligator wants to eat “delicious wide mouth frogs!” What is a frog to do? Children will laugh at how the frog solves his problem, and avoids becoming dinner. This is a short and simple book that is great to read aloud. Kids will love the bright pictures and the fun pop-outs on each page.
